Noise level

I currently own a 99 Crew Cab Short bed PSD with 118,000 miles. This weekend I drove a 2001 with same setup and 75,000 miles. The 2001 was noticably quieter.....not that I mind the noise. Just wondering if anyone knew why. It was the same truck....same engine.

i don't know why, but 99 are the loudest engine ever made. A friend has a 99 identical to mine and it is just as loud. I added some lucas stabilizer per a reccomendation on this forum, and it got noticably quieter.

I'm not sure of the details, but there were some differences in the early 99 trucks, compared to those built later in the model year, and the 2000 and newer ones.
