Well guys I got the new rubber seals and filter but man I cant get the black cover off to save my life. I tried everytjing I can think of except the oil filter wrench, dont have one. I do have the craftsman grip wrenchs but was unable to budge it. I also found a hex head socket that fit perfectly in the center but it just striped out. What ever moron put this on did a great job of getting it tight, a little to tight. Will a oil wrench really work and what size would I need?I spent a hour trying to get it off last night in the cold windy crappy weather but failed. Please help!
cookie88 I gave that a try could not turn it, it is counter clockwise corect.I dont know what elese to try. Thanks for the tip but that !@#$ is on there good.
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
I have a LARGE set of slip-joints that I use for plumbing... easily fits 3-8 inch pipe. I'm sure something like that would do the trick. If the slip-joint doesn't do it, I'm hesitant to think a filter wrench might. But it's still worth a shot, I guess.
Not sure about the size of filter wrench you'd need, but a trip to your local auto parts store & quick chat with the guy behind the counter might help solve things.
Good luck -- if that doesn't work, get a bigger hammer!
