I want to get new tires but at the price of them I would hate to have the same problem i have now
I bought the truck and it has cooper 265x75x16 on it they ride
like a flinstone mobile someone mounted 4 rocks on the rims and called them tires you could spit on the road and I could feel it
and concidering I live in ohio our roads are anything but flat
I would like a little bigger tire but I dont know what I can get away with I was concidering either Michlins or BFGs but at aprox $160 ea I would hate screw this up
Thanks for the input in advance
I have a 2000 F350 V10 and I ran the BFG 285/75-16's and they were a good tire, a little noisey but not too bad. I just put a set of the Bridgestone A/T Duellers Revo's on it and thet are Awesome. They are quite, smooth riding, and work great in all types of terrain. Another p[lus is Bridgestone guarantees them for 50,000 miles. I'm running the same size as the BFG's I had.
The cost is about the same as the BFG's.
If you want a smooth ride go with the 285/75 and an all terrain to a street tread. Another little thing is you don't have to run the tires at that max sidewall pressure. That infl. pressure is for the max load rating of the tire - I run around with about 20 psi less in the rear tires than the fronts and usually about 10 less than max sidwall in the fronts - gotta support that heavy diesel!!
Good Luck!
I second the Michelin LTX M/S suggestion.
I put on the 285 version of this tire with some Bilstein shocks and the ride is great. I spend alot of miles on the interstate and could not be happier with the upgrade....
I just put bridgestone dueler A/T revo's on my truck.....They are awesome....ride quiet....good tread.....and excellent wet road traction...and best of all....I baught them brand spakin' new on ebay for $120 a tire......retail around here were $165 a tire.
I vote for the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. We have them on a Landcruiser and they are supreme. They replaced BFG AT's and I will say they are far better riding, quieter and handle better. As for wear and tear - we'll know in about four years or so.
I've consistently gotten 50,000 miles per set of BFG AT's and the 35's on my X look like they could go 55,000 easy. I'm tired of them though and looking at other options including going with 285 AT Revo's - biggest size made, Yokohama Geolanders or Nitto AT's in 295 size. I'm tire of the road noise from the 12.5" tread.
Lowered the truck. going to smaller tires, can you tell I'm getting old?
I have about 20,000 miles on my Yokohoma Geolandars I love them. Nice looking, quiet, good traction and reasonably priced. I will buy another set if they keep performing like they do.
Before spending $$ on new tires (I like BFG ATs), have you checked the air pressure in your current ones? No need to run 80 psi if you're running with no load.
