Chain Tensioner!!!!!
Just wondering how many People have had a problem with their timing chain tensioner, and did it make the sound all the time or at a certain RPM( like mine app.2500RPM), and did Ford fix it, they won't fix mine , they say its not bad enough and all Explorers make this noise according to the Service Manager!!!

I am currently having a similar problem: I just got back from the dealer, he said it sounds like the tensioner to him, he also said 99% of time it is the tensioner. I of course find this convieneint since the tensioner ONP expires at 72k and I have 85k but the cam chain guide expires at 100k and mine makes noise from idle all the way through the rpm's. It does it form start up to shut down. It is a metallic rattleing sound that is somewhat random (meaning its not a constant slap or tick, but more of a loose rattle. Does this sound like the tensioner or the guide??????????????????/
