Thanks Heat. I have had the NAPA set up on mine for a while. I got it also on a bracket on the altenator and it's pretty big. I like the set up y'all have. May have to make the change. Thanks for the info.
I don't think any non-factory filtration is a needed thing or the PSD's would come out with them from the factory.
Improved filtration and by-pass filtration for air, oil, coolant and tranny is all piece of mind and added protection. Hopefully the upgraded filtration extends the life for all components that are affected by the additional filtration.

How can you say that after seeing all the crap that came out of your filter? That stuff is eating seals and causing a slow and painful death to your waterpump. It's beyond me why these new light duty diesels don't have coolant filters on them from the factory.
Horsecop, I took a look at the NAPA set up today and I thought it was ok. What do you like better about the other one? I can get the one at Napa for $29. How much is the other one?
Yes Cookie, I know it can eat up a water pump, but what does a water pump cost?
Really, when you cmpare the life of a water pump to the cost of installing a coolant filter and replacement filters, is it really worth it? Some PSD owners will trade thier PSD's off before they ever have a water pump problem.
Now, if it keeps my radiator from clogging and having to replace it in the short term, then yes, money well spent.
It's not that I didn't recommend it, I just didn't want to open the door to the whordes of those PSD owners who will argue with me for days about the ROI $$.
Just my opinion on a vehicle that has a 100K warranty. I am sure Ford has done all the logisitics on warranty issues as they pertian the 7.3 and feel comfortable releasing the 7.3 as is to the public without all the filtration that we see is necessary.
Us filtration nuts believe in overkill, some would say.
Besides, Ford has the 100K warranty and to most PSD owners that's good enough to make it to the next trade without doing a single thing to their PSD.

Excellent point. I forget that most folks are not their own warranty provider. It's even harder for me to fathom trading it in, I plan on driving this one forever, or until my daughter takes it away and I'm forced to get a new one.
