I have an 86 Ford Ranger 4 cyl, 5 speed. Here is the problem, she will run for about ten minutes then she will slowly die. I have repaced the main fuel pump in the tank. The EGR valve and the EGR Celeniod on the pasenger side wall in the engine compartment. When it starts to run rough the EGR celeniod will strat clicking.
Also repaced the Idle control sensor too, because the computer said that it was faulty. Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks Please pardon all mispelled words.

Welcome to FTE Isobulls.
When you pulled the codes, all that you got was a code for the idle control?
When you changed the EGR, did you also inspect & clean the tube coming from the exhaust manifold?
If it is happening slowly; ie runs good for a few minutes, then starts to run rough or lose power, my guess would be a plugged exhaust system. Bad muffler or cat converter. When I was a young lad, it was really a lot of fun to take a snowball and hold it over an exhaust pipe of someone's car who was trying to warm it up when it was cold. You could stop an engine in about 15 seconds. I don't think that would be as much fun now, but your exhaust system is worth checking. Start it up and check the exhaust at the tailpipe. A piece of cardboard works ok. The try it again in a few minutes to see if you have the same pressure. Good Luck.
The only code that came up was for the Idle sensor, I replaced it today. Runs good for about ten minutes then the Selinoid or celeniod (EGR) starts clicking and she starts running rough. i have checked the air filter and the oxygen sensor is new too. I am thinking it might be the coil. As the plug wires and distrubuter look new. I must add that I picked this little truck up for three hundred dollars and that she ran fine for about three months prior to the trouble. i am also going to check the fuel filter and catalitic converter. Sound like i missed anything.
