Talking more problems than I'd like!!!

it seems that no matter what I fix, and what i change, and what I moddify... there is always a problem... and i have a laundy list of problems... most of which is on the dash...

like the gas gauge dosen't work... the temp gauge dosent work... the electronic 4wd switch... the heater only comes on when it feels like it and sometimes dosen't even come on... light's on my dash don't light up, but light up sometimes... now my wipers decided to stop workin'...

and that's only the inside...

there is a vibration problem when i hit a cetain speed... and other things... I'll have to list another time...

It is overwhelming to have so many things to fix--I know as my husband's 95 is lit up like a Christmas tree and I'm wanting to fix everything. I think he's holding off just to get a new vehicle.

Several of your problems sound related though. You should do some searches of the various sections most related to each of the problems. Could be a fuse affecting multiple gauges. Which dashlights aren't coming on? Is it your heater fan that's not turning on? We need more details to help.

Talking

it's great to know some people acctually read these pages cos i was sceptical...

yeah so... my explorer is 95 4.0L OHV V6...

the problem with the heater fan is that it only starts to turn on a while after I start my car... it can take from a min to sometimes half an hour... and sometimes it just dosen't go on...

I guess with all the electrical problem I'm gonna have to find a specialist that deals with only the electrical part of auto repair...

about the dash lights that don't come on... I checked if it were the bulbs but they seem to be fine... it's like half of the seepometer lights up and some of the buttons on the console...

I'm juss getting frustrated... but I love my explorer too much...

My husband's is a 1995 and must be the same as yours as there was only one engine that year. His has been an incredible vehicle except for the 3 transmissions.

My daughter's is another story. I looked through the pile of invoices she's had for her 1997 and I could cry. Oh well, I guess it's only money.

Your heater problem is one that I have read about here and on the explorations website regarding the blower motor but I didn't pay much attention since we haven't had that problem yet. So you'd want to search both sites for no blower, heater motor, blower motor, etc.

Regarding the dashlights--so you've had the dash out and replaced the bulbs already? We had a problem with the radio control lights either not coming on at all or blinking on and off. Don't know if this is your symptom but the fix was the dimmer switch. If you wiggled the dimmer switch side to side the lights would come on.

Be prepared to do lots of searches putting in various related words like dashlights, dash bulb, no indicator, etc., and you will find too much information. If you find a junk yard it might not be too much to buy the whole assembly that has the speedometer and all the lights to use for troubleshooting.

The dash lights and switches sound like a loose connection in the harness. My dash lights did the same thing and one night, I hit a bump and they all worked. Next day, went feeling around and found the main junction (on steering column, under dash) to have three plugs. One was not fully "snapped" in place. Probably when I unplugged the whole thing to install a remote starter.

The blower motor uses a relay in the high power fuse box under the hood behind the battery. Replace it. Get it from FORD and no one lese and ask for that specific relay. Trustme, they are different and the wrong one matters!

Some of my dash lights werent working when i bought my 95 eddie bauer 4 litre 4x4. Eliminated the headlamp switch and the multifuntion switch. The problem was a broken wire going to the PCM. Fixed the wire and everything works. It was funny though because i had all guage light except for the voltage guage. No backlights in the radio, A coulple of the heater control backlights would work when they wanted. And with the head lamps on the 4x4 light, speed control, and O/d off button wouldnt come on.

That is what one little wire will do LOL
Good thing there werent two broken wires.
