2000 F-150 odometer quit working?

It is run off of the VSS(vehicle speed sensor) that took the place of the old fashion cable. The speedo is electric also. If the speedo works but the odometer doesn't, then the cluster will probably need to be replaced.

Before shelling out $350 for a new cluster, take a look at this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=196821 (14th page of Expedition Forum)
The process of taking out the cluster and splitting the boards may help the speedo make better contact. The speedo only is connected to the board by 2 pins pushed into the main board. Others have complained of the speedo not working due to this connection.
Has the odometer ever blanked out before? If so, you may want to look for a cold solder joint as shown in this thread.

My F150 is in the shop now and the odometer is on the list of things to fix. The odometer and speedometer actually work, it's just that the display light goes out. When they fix it I'll let you know what they found

What if it's the other way around? the odometer works but the speedo does NOT.......1999 F-450 w/ 7K miles. thank you..
