i just installed a new thermastat in my 82 f-150 ford, 302. the temperature gauge is still reading 3/4 of the way to hot. the guy at the auto parts says it has an air bubble in the system. my question is how to bleed the air ouy of the system (if that is the problem)
When the truck is cool, take the radiator cap off...and start the truck and let it idle till the thermostat opens and the coolant level in the radiator drops.... once it does this....put the radiator cap back on and that should have allowed the air bubble out of the system.
Depends on how cold it is outside. Probably 15 minutes will do it. When it opens, the top radiator hose will get noticeably warm, and you will see coolant flow in the radiator.
