wire broken - what is it for?
I just got a 1991 Ford Explorer. It was supposed to have some troubles with its overdrive. SO I went underneath to check if the overdrive wire was off. In the process of jiggling some wires, I found dirty corroded wired attached to the driver side of the motor. It connects to a 3/4 in nut on the side of the block. There is a little BLUE plastic piece before the nut that the wire goes into. When I jiggle the wire it broke free and I lost the blue plastic piece.
Can anyone tell me what this wire is for and if it is replaceable and how.

I think you might have more luck in one of these forums:

I'll leave this thread here even though you don't have the 4.2 V6 in your Explorer. Somebody might stumble across it and know the answer.
Thanks and good luck with finding the problem.
