96 Expl V8 Egr problems
CEL has been intermittent lately so I took it to the hobby shop and had the code read. It comes up as a P0401. Which I know is the egr valve sticking closed. I have the older setup on the emissions so I don't have the DPFE.
I started to take the EGR and EGR Position Sensor off to see if I could clean the valve first before replacing it...But after taking the position sensor off I thought that I might run a test to make sure it wasn't the sensor that was bad.
By my thinking with the car running, if I hold the actuator of the sensor all the way in (EGR valve full open) the truck should idle rough and/or die? Nothing happened no matter what I did with the actuator...
Wondering if anyone has any insite before I go though the rest of the trouble of trying to get the bottom bolt of the EGR valve off.
