Headers..

Ive been looking for some cheap headers for my 73.. whats bad is i put a 351w in it.. and i can only find headers for a 302 in it.. Will they fit? Ive heard of the 302 ports not being as big as the 351w's.. and they wouldnt flow as good.. Or is there any relitily cheap headers for my truck with a 351w in it?? Thanks James..

I used 302 headers for a 351w swap but I don't know what brand they were.

The 351w is taller and wider, so I dont know how well full-length headers will fit. From what I have read...most people are useing mustang shorities. I would like to go full-length in my '77 f150, but for the time I'll just use the shorties on my 351w.

use shorties, longtubes wont fit properly. Technically shorties will, not work either but if youre building a whole new exhuast they will...be prepared for a leak if you dont, the 302 shorties wont drop the collectors down far enough. My brother has this problem.

no 302 longtubes will fit any windsor block. The deck height of the 302 block (from the center of the crank to the top of the block-the part the bottom of the intake sits on) is 8.206. A 351w's deck height is 9.5". That makes the heads sit up higher in the engine compartment with a 351w because it is taller. 302 long tube headers will not extent down far enough to clear your firewall/floorboard.

I was refering to an 80 + model with a 351w....I was wondering if the firewall depth or the crossmember is too different from a 73 -77 model for the 80 + to work.

I might order some 80s long tube 351w headers and see how they fit. If they dont i can alwas send them back. Im not a big fan or shortys thats why i want long tubes.. They look better IMO

The long tubes would also be alot easier for a DIY system, rather than running to a shop with open headers. If you go with the 80s headers, PM me I'd like to hear how it went. I'm still in the process of pulling my 351w outta the mustang to drop in the f150...weather permitting.

Yea thats what i was thinking.. Long tubes i can just slap some glass packs to them and run some pipe then 45 degree angles and come out in front of the rear wheels. My 351w is a 72, and out of a wrecked ranchero.. Its got a few goodies on it.. Ought to make that 2wd truck scream. I might have a lead on a set of used headman headers for 73-79s with a 351w in them. I might buy them. If that dont go threw im gonna order some 80s ones and hope they fit good... Ive been thinking about droping the 351w in one of the Stangs and using this truck for parts but its way to nice of a truck to do that. Plus a 351w would be to tight of a fit in my Mustang II's..

What do you guys think about these??
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33634

They dont go under the cab/firewall.. I would have to have some pipe bent to run them though.

I had this same set for a '84 bronco, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...em=+2462440126
I sold them before I bought my f150.
