Converting a Dually to 4WD
I have heard from some people that it is possible but takes a lot of work. I was even told that I have to get a different half chassis for the front end but I don't know if this is true or not.
I really love this truck and don't want to get rid of her and I would prefer to convert her if possible. She is absolutely mint and an unbelieveable workhorse especially with her 460 engine and manual transmission.
Any advice or parts lists would be most welcome.
Thanks,

, so yes it can be done. but the problem is all of the work and fabricating. ill give ya a list of a few of the main parts needed for this swap.-dana 60 solid axle or dana 50 ifs. the dana 60 is the way i would go b/c that is what is factory in a 1 ton, but excpect to spend $1200-$1600 for one. the dana 50 came in HD 250's and provide a smoother ride, but they arent as stout. you should be able to find a good one round $800-$1000.
-you will need a 4x4 trans. and 208 transfer. another $600-$800 for these parts.
-driveshaft
-drag links, stabilizer bar, sway bar, and many other parts like this.
yer best bet to do this would be to find an old early 80's 4x4 one ton so that you have all of the mounting hardware and etc. if ya have any more questions or need any more help e-mail me. good luck and let us know what ya decide to do.
