I was backing my in the driveway this afternoon and the thing just quit running like somebody just turned of the key. After running the battery's down I got it in the yard hooked up a charger and cranked on it a little more ,still nothing. Its not smoking like its getting any fuel. I had a cam sensor go out about six months ago, but it didn't act like this. Also i tried ether to start it and noticed my tach was working so i'm not sure its the cps. Any suggestions?
yes, that was one of the first things i checked . It was one of the little ones under the hood, replaced it still nothing. My tach moves while cranking so i dont think its the cps. Also i'm getting fuel out of the little schrader valve while cranking and my oil reservior is full
It sure sounds like the fuel pump to me. If it was getting fuel while cranking that much to drain the batteries it should be smokin' like a train! I wouldn't think it would make it plain shut off but did you check your fuel filter/seperater??
i just put in a new filter and it still wont start. yesterday i hit the schrader valve and nothing came out not even a trace. i removed the line in front of it and still nothing came out. later on i took the line loose and cranked it and fuel came out but still no go. I just bought a code scanner and its not returning any codes. I ran her pretty hard yesterday afternoon coming home pulling a 22.5 foot boat home doing 75 mph. I noticed i used a lot of fuel. It was fine till i went to back the boat in drive then it just quit.
check to see if you have fuel in your seperator.do you have goog fuel pressure if so did you get a pass code with your scanner.if you can pull up pids check your ICP pressure pid should be more then 500 psi, vpwr pid has to be more then 10.5 volts, rpm pid should be more then 100 rpm.all have to be = or more for engine to start.you talked about the cmp sensor being out .the rpm pid will tell you if you have signal from that sensor.
