carb Question

I have a Holley 1 barrel carb on my I-6 engine in my '66 bronco. On the side of the carb it says its a Holley 1940 is this the carb #. It has a manual choke on it. Dose this carb have a Auto choke version? It needs replacement and i would like to go with a auto choke. Untill i can do an engine swap.

You might try a 73- 74 version to see if they have a auto choke option. I'm not sure if they were still using that Holley model into the 70's, but you might find something to fit.

Cheshire, why do you want to switch to a auto choke?

68 351 bronc,
right now i have the vacum wiper set up and i want to change over to the electric.
when i do so rather then making another hole in my dash i would like to put the wiper switch in the hole that my choke cable is in now.
Then if i get a carb with an auto choke i won't have to worry about rerunning the cable some where else. Or makeing a bracket to mount it.
I intend to do an engine swap next winter anyway and then i won't need it. Till then i need to do something so i can run my wipers.

It just seems easier to put a carb with a auto choke on it. Then put my wiper switch in the old choke hole, then to make a bracket or drill my dash.

Just wondering. I don't like auto chokes.
Planing ahead will make for a clean Bronco in the end. No reason to drill holes that won't be needed later.
If your going to do a engine/tranny swap I very highly recomend doing them both at the same time on a bare frame. It really is not that dificult to pull the body off of the frame. Makes the swap so much easier. I don't know what the condition of your EB is but if you plan on putting that kind of money into it than I assume that you will be replacing every thing that needs replaced like body mount bushings and bolts anyway.

I agree. I wish I would have had the money and time to do everything at once. I have done a few things over because they interfered with a upgrade I had done. But I was more concerned about getting it back together on a Saturday afternoon so I could go play on Sunday.

If it was mine, I would rebuild the existing carb w/ manual choke, and plan on changing to an auto when I did the engine swap.

If you're going to swap to electric wipers, you should have another available dash location with the washer push button switch. Your new wiper switch should have a function to push the button and run the washer pump. You might have to open the hole up a little bit, but you won't need to add another hole.

My bronco is in rough shape right now but the I-6 is a strong runner. I want to get everything working like the wippers and things of that nature for this summer. That way i can drive it and play a little.
Next fall i plan to pull the body off the fram and do a complete engine/trans swap and frame up restoration. I'm just trying to get all the info on EB's i can, so that when i tear everything apart i'm not going in blind.
I realy appreciate all the help you guys give me here. I know sometimes i may ask stupid questions. But i rather ask the stupid question then screw something up or over look it.
This is my first EB. I got it in the fall of this year.
ANd i'm loveing it. I've want one since i was 14 when a budy of my dads bought one and brought it by the house to show my dad. how cool it was.
I was hooked.
I have a lot of work ahead of me but i love these things. Its worth it

Thanks everyone for all the help so far.

Cheshire, Just doing the work your self will save you a bundle. Not to mention when repair work needs done later you will be familiar. Just decide what has to be done first and what things can be done later.
When doing the engine/ tranny swap, with no body in the way things like engine mount welding is a heck of a lot easier with out things like the inner fenders in the way.
You Are Luck TO BE AN EB OWNER. There Arn't that many left!!!
