I have been observing this coolant leak that I have around where my water pump bolts to the block. The sucker only leaks when the engine is cold My understanding is that it is sealed with an o-ring. I'm not sure what I might need to do to stop the leak if I take it apart. Silicone? Permatex? Anybody else had
this problem?

The dealer replaced mine under warranty and now I see it is seeping at the mating surface too I'm not messing with it unless it gets worse. Did you change the o-ring too?
It's not really an o-ring. It's a flat rubber gasket that is shaped to fit in a groove in the water pump. When I pulled the pump off it was obvious why it was leaking...the gasket was level with the top of the groove. No way it was gonna seal. I pulled the gasket out of the groove, filled the groove with blue RTV gasket sealant, re-seated the gasket into the groove leaving about a 1/16 of the gasket above the edge of the groove. I let it set up that way over nite, put another bead of sealant around the gasket that was sticking up out of the groove and reinstalled. Ran the truck about 75 miles yesterday, parked it and let her cool down last nite (cold is when it was leaking). Not a drop on the ground this morning....
