So when's our shindig, folk?
So now that we have a forum, it must naturally follow that we have some sort of get together. It is the way, my son.
I'll be the first to offer up my home city, nice guy that I am, on account of it's central location and Ford-truck-load of stuff to do.
Now I know, it's winter time, and a big get-together is best held for spring, but if there's multiple folks living within an hour of each other or so, how about a few smaller meets across the land within the next few weeks?
I know there are at least 2 of us in Yellowstone Co., and I suspect there are more, this being the most populace county and all.
What about a Yellowstone Co. meet for lunch and a little truck show-and-tell in a couple of weekends?
Let's start meeting face to face folks.

I'd be up for it. Although, I have to get the truck running first. I figure it's about 400 miles/6 hour drive for me. Give or take. That's a lot of fuel, though. I was out to Billings about 7 years ago. Always wanted to go back. Hell, I've got vacation to burn, too.
My only concern is that I'll want to keep going west all the way out to Seattle.

Yeah its about 6 hours/434 miles from bismarck to billings, we are in bismarck every once in a while, my sister lives there. It costs me $120 round trip in the '79. Its a lot cheaper if you only do 65
I think there are a few more people in the area, I think that I will post something in the GC again, see if we can attract more flies.
Theo, you need one of them catalytic heaters, the ones you can run inside. I love mine, I use it in the truck when I can't wait a half an hour to warm it up. They run off 1lb. propane bottles, and they last for 24 hours, 1800 BTU's.
So what do you guys wanna do for a get together? An FTE LAN Party is out of the question. Otherwise I am up for just about anything.
I have lots of free time, so anytime is good. When fishing season starts up in may, I will likely be doing that for any free time that I have.

A one or two day event sounds good to me... of course, everything is dependent on the expected number of participants. An outdoor backwoods barbecue is a must... maybe scenic short 10-20 mile "trail run" through the city... then an off-road scenic trail run for all the 4X4s, or simply a place for the 4X4s to play.
Don't worry, I've got room for one or two 2wd guys in my truck to ride along!

Ok well I got the place, a nice 4wd playing area with a big deep mud hole behind my old High School.
We can run through town, but there isn't too much to see.
I have a pretty good sized barbeque too, and a supply of a lot of wild game, venison, that could be grilled up for a hell of a treat.
EDIT:
I was just thinking about a place up the road from here, we could do some shooting too.

Well, Super, I have a strict rule about mixing guns and beer, I am sure that everybody can cooperate with that though.
let me know if there is something you don't eat, or don't do, that we can arrange, whatever, I am pretty easy going.
We will likely have mroe get togethers, so don't feel like this is the only one there will be.
We might have to see about getting nonresident fishing licenses and showing up on Justin's doorstep .
