Balancing MT/R
1990 E350 4by4 (Pathfinder) 460CI, Dana 60 front & rear.
Just purchased 4 - 285/75/16 MT/R'S, installer said there is a product (bag of sand) that is installed inside of tire and rim that opens when traveling and will balance the combo. He had a hard time installing weights and balancing.
True? Good product? Were can I buy it?

I tried the product on 35" tires and it made the vibration/shake that I was experiencing worse. Try to find a Hunter GSP9700 vibration control system at a local tire shop and have them balance your wheels with it. I think it's the best you can do especially with larger tires.

They can't balance a 285/75/16? MT/Rs have a reputation for being easy to balance. I'm wondering if you got a bunk tire or two.
The stuff you may be referring to is called Equal. Sorry don't know off hand where to get it. Regular ol' BBs work well according to some.
I dunno. Tires that small shouldn't be hard to balance. If it were me, I'd pursue the bad tire angle.
