My '03 Navi has 42k on it and the tires are starting to show wear. I am uncomfortable with their current state although they are barely legal. We are about to go on a long trip and therefore I want to replace them. I really like the Michelins (I have always thought they were the best tire) but I can not bring myself to buy French yet.
Obviously, we do not off-road the Navi and we put a lot of miles on it. Safety, handling and bad weather performance are the priorities. Opinions???
You can't beat Micheliln for on the road tires. But if you just can't take the name, go with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos. They don't ride quite as soft, but are as good or better in every other way, including being ready for anything. And everyone is subject to having an offroad experience no matter where they travel. Wanting to or being forced off onto the shoulder in someplaces, may make one appreciate the ability to get back on the pavement later due to good offroad traction.
I bought BF Goodrich TA/KO 's for my 02 Expy sport at 42,000 mi, at a club type store. Got a great deal on excellent tires, I love them. A huge improvement over the stock rubber.
Originally posted by Big Craig I have the Goodyear Wranglers, and they are terrible, noisey and bumpey ride, I think they are stock tires because the spare is a brand new one.
A friend of mine put the Goodyears on a F350, and between 35MPH, and 45MPH, they are very rough riding. The balance was checked, and it was ok.....must be some kind of out-of-round problem...
That is where mine are rough, mostly between 35mph-45mph, not acceptable on a family vehicle, as soon as there worn out they are gone, probably will buy US Made Coopers.
Remember the job that is lost(to global marketing) may be your own....Remember what Pres. Bush said "Everyone Can Retrain", do you think he means himself also???
I've had my Kumhos on for over a year now and they are a terrific tire for the price. I wouldn't go off-roading with them, but for surface streets they offer great traction, stability, quiet ride, no hydro-planing, and they look cool. The wranglers are the complete opposite of what I just described, they blow! I never thought that I'd be touting Korean made goods, but here I am doing it. The frogs need to take notice...
What are the U.S.A. made tires on the market today?
I am considering not buying the BFG's because they are made by the French also. So far all I have seen is the Goodyear's
My Cooper tires are great! They are great on and off road. I also had the GoodYear Wranglers stock on my last 2 vehicles I purchased. They were the worst tires. Rough and crappy made. I had 6 flats on my last truck with them. With this new truck I changed them out ASAP as they looked like they were ready to go any day anyways. I also had a set of Kelly tires. They were the A/T and rode okay but for the price I should have gotten alot more. They were not worth the $119 per tire I paid for them at all. I paid $124 for these Cooper tires and Im very impressed...Had them on about 3 weeks now so we shall see how good they last after a couple of 12 hour trips and a 16 hour move pulling a trailer.
