Door hinge popping

O.K. I know its crazy but the wife wants to sell her 95 explorer. Why you ask... well don't I've been down that road and it's not worth it. my question is the drivers door when opening and closing makes a metal popping sound or could be a grind. is there an easy fix to improve value or would i just cough real loud when people open the door?

My 96 did it on the passenger door. I never found the problem, but i just greased all of the moving parts over on it and it would stop for a while, and then i would have to keep regreasing or it would come back. For the life of me I couldn't figure it out, on mine it didnt do it every time the door opened. Probably about 1 out of 3 times. It would be nice to know what actually causes it.

try tightening the bolts for the hinge....they do have a tendency to loosen after a few years. also you may want to check for hair line cracks around the hinge area. hope this helps. good luck..

p.s. if you have any thread locker, its a good idea to remove the bolt and apply some to the threads
