I didn't know anyone made anything like that for a 4.9. Seems like it's about the same thing as a windage tray.
The 4.9 isn't a high RPM engine, so I doubt there would be a noticable difference in increased power.
Windage trays are a good idea, but but I would not waste the time to pull the pan just to install one.
On the other hand, if the pan was coming off for some reason anyhow...... I would probably consider putting one in.
Windage trays, scrapers, screens, whatever you use or call them all work very well. It's the easiest, cheapest, safest horsepower you can get and always has been.
ANY engine turns plenty fast enough to realize benefits. Sure 8500 rpm is a blur, so is 2500. Windage trays and such aren't just a good idea, they are virtually "mandatory" on any performance engine and would help even on any stock engine. You won't see a legitimate high performance engine without one.
I suppose most people don't think they're cool because they don't glow neon or make noise, they are unseen and unheard. But it's one of the first things you should spend your money on.
They work very well on wet and dry sump systems. We use one in the Sprint car. Make sure the new main bolts are up to snuff, though. We use only ARP, and had to buy a few new ones to install it.
