help with heater core

Hi I have a '53 that I am working on. I put a polished stainless cover on the firewall. now the outlets are too short to connect the heater hoses onto. How do you remove the core that I can solder on extensions?

Thanks

heater core

Gary, you can get to the heater core from inside the cab. Take the inside cover off the heater housing, the back of the heater houising will stay bolted to the firewall. The heater core is just sandwiched between the two heater parts. There will probably be some gaskets & dirt to deal with, but you should be able to wiggle the heater core out and into the cab. Make sure the heater hoses, hose clamps & any firewall gaskets have been removed. Good luck, Brian.
