LED like alarm?

LED like alarm?
Id like to install an LED that blinks similar to an alarm but with the PATs setup, Im not planning on installing a complete alarm system.
Anyone have a install process for installing just a blinking LED that goes on when the Expy is turned off , and powers off when the car is turned on?
Ive seen them before that wire up to 12v+ , 12v switched , and ground, but Id like to build it myself or a cheap source to get the LED?
Anyone have instructions or a website to go to.?
I have a ton of electronics stores to buy the stuff from and the wiring is easy I just need to know if what diodes etc to use.
