And are all those sales gimmicks or are they real performance enhancements? If it saved gas and gave any real performance gains it would be on all cars since it doesn't cost anything to do...
This is my opinion based on many years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and marketing, -and you have your opinions too!
Hell yes! it would look very cool, and would look even better if you took a dremel tool and polished out that logo! and if you keep it waxed and polished it will probaly help with the aerodynamics of the air flow to help keep it cool. DW
I already mounted it on 1/4" standoffs to improve the airflow under it but then I probably need an air dam to keep out the turbulence and decrease drag...
You mean that 12 cylinder 600 cube 900 HP engine I built on D-Dyno isn't REAL! Oh my wounded heart!
I was just figuring out how to use those 200# NO tanks as frame rails too...
shoot, the paint isent even dry on my ignition box...and now you guys are tellin me it wont go faster with red paint??darn it. What about neon green paint?
Oh yeah, just my two cents worth on aftermarket ignition systems... I had a problem with my boat motor (merc 350, 300 prop HP) loading up at idle at high altittude. I installed a Jacobs ignition(about two years ago) and it pretty much ended the loading up problem. This leads me to beleive that this box is doing a better job than "stock".
I only know this from my own experience. I installed one in my 90 Bronco with a 302. MSD sells a wire adapter kit to adapt it into the ignition system. The tach works as good as ever, I got a small mileage improvement (about 2 mpg), and it's had 2 emission tests in 4 years, and the technician said it's emmissions were way lower than any Bronco or F150 with a 302 that he's ever seen. Just my experience here.
I have seen many times where someone installs a new "toy" and at the same time gives the carb a shot of carb cleaner to make it pretty while we are here, -and that cures the sticking choke. Or a power wire was spliced in ahead of a break in the old wiring. Or some other little "repair" was done that fixed the real problem. It happens all the time.
"Testimonials" are nice but actual dyno testing, not ads, have shown that the OEM stuff is as good or better than the add-on toys. Check it out yourself. Do a little web surfing thru magazine articles and tech papers that were not paid for by the aftermarket ignition manufacturers. Haven't you guys ever seen the Tornado commercials? Ever wonder how they make these miracles happen? How that engine running on 7 cylinders miraculously makes more HP when the Tornado is installed and that last spark plug wire is re-connected? Do you think the ads are going to show anything but miraculous increases in power and economy? How that nice little old lady gets up and tells about her mileage, -when she probably doesn't even know how to figure mileage?
But then without you guys to buy this stuff and Tornado devices and fuel line magnets etc the aftermarket companies would be hurting.
I about puked when I saw a sign for a tornado at a NAPA store. When I asked the guy at the counter about it he grinned and said "people buy them". And of course someone laughs all the way to the bank!
