2.9 runs rough
need some help...have 86 bII 2.9 it runs rough when idleing or in gear have changed plugs wires cap and rotor fuel pump in tankand the flex plate(it had cracks in it) what have i missed?

Check the idle air control (or bypass) valve. Crud can build up in the valve creating problems.
Run EEC-IV self-tests (see www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html) and see if the computer sees any issues. FYI you don't have a check engine light to light up when the computer sees a fault, so you have to "ask" the computer if it sees/has seen a fault.

when you instaled the new flex plat check to see if you broke the ground wire from the back of the pasenger side head i beleive it will be an orange wire, if that wire gets broke it will send a reading to the computer that the o2 sensor and the tpi senser is bad it will idel rough and blow black smoke and act like it is flooding out.
