hi guys,
well this sunday i'm going to pick up a bronco.
it will be the first time i've seen it.
it is a 1996 xlt with 86,000 miles on it. anyone want to venture a fair price for it? it is a one owner, very clean, hi way miles. he added a bunch of cosmetic things to it, like a lund sunvisor, side steps, etc, and has a 10 disc cd changer
i'm selling my 95 4runner and 94 bronco to finance it.
i'd love to hear of any advice as far as any tell tale signs that there is major problems with it. major stuff...like powertrain issues...
also is there a visible way to see if the auto hubs are engaging properly. it has the floor shifter.
do a thurough walkaround. look at the shape of the body and paint. look at the interior, the tires, the rear axle for any leakage. take it for a test drive , put it into 4hi and turn tight to hear the chirps.........ect. be smart and dont get too excited. also, 6000 dollars to about 7,500 for price.
Yeah, you will be able to tell if in 4wheel or not. The steering is way different in 4wheel than normal. Look underneath her too, namely for outstanding damage and leaks. On test drive, note how well it brakes- could save yourself from a brake job later on down the road. What motor is in it? aNdrewrice price is right. Does this mean you will still have to Bronco's if you get it? You lucky dog!

I have a 96' XL with a little less miles (approx 77k). I am the second owner.
Look for the normal leaks, etc. Run the motor and get it fully warm. Check fluid levels and look/smell specifically the tranny fluid and oil to see how clean it is.
Look under wheel wells and crawl under to look at frame for rust.
Basically, just do a good walk around/under.
Sounds like a pretty good deal. I dont know if I would sell mine for that price and I only have an XL and I dont have some of the extra goodies.
Also, loose the auto hubs first thing and go with some manual warns or similar....the first time the auto's dont engage and you need it you will wish you had.
Well, Im not the used car expert, but I can tell you this, when inspecting the truck look at the brake pedal. If it looks like its worn(you know too much for 80000 miles) then you got a prob with the odometer. Also, are you buying it from an individual? If so, try and get a look at his garage, if it's neat and clean and everything seems to have a home then you got yourself a type of person that keeps up with all the important fluid changes, etc. Well dont know if this is any real help but good luck with your purchase.
