i just got a motor fro my bronco. right now its got a 351m in it and i just got a 351w this motor should mount right up right? cause there all the same block pretty much its just the emissions and **** on it so this should work right?
Sorry to give you bad news but no the "W" block will not bolt up where a "M" was. The "M" motors have the big block bellhousing bolt pattern where the "W" uses the small block pattern. The only other motors that will bolt up to the trans is the 385 family, 429's and 460's
There may be adaptors available but I would not recommend that and the price would not be cheap. Maybe you could sell the Windsor and pick up a M or a 460 with the money.
You probably wouldn't want to drop a 351w into a 78/79 Bronco anyways, it doesn't have nearly the brute low end that you need to haul that beast around town (I know, Ive had both engines)
Your best bet would be to get yourself a hold of a 351m block, they're easy enough to find at junkyards and even right here on FTE. Then build it to a 400, which is also easy enough, youcan find more information on that here in the 351m/400 forum, just use the search function, the topic has been beaten to death already.
