I am looking at swapping my 99 burb 4x4 for a 2000 X with a v-10. My burb has 127K and the X has just at 100K. Any issues that you all know of with the v-10 at higher miles. Any big no-no's. I love my burb, but look forward to more power with the v-10.
I saw a review on car review that the rear a/c was a problem with rusting because of where it drains. Are you all experiencing those issues?
Welcome to the Ford-fold. My V10 has 71K miles (bought @ 53K) and hasn't given me a moment's trouble. But I cannot speak longevity about the 6.8L. My ol' 5.8L gas V8 in an F350 crew-cab had over 195K miles, and never had the valve covers off other than to replace a leaking gasket. I was amazed at how trouble-free the engine was for me. Change your oil every 3K to 4K and yours should last well into the 200s.
You'll find the Mighy-X is in a class of its own. Even the H2 falls short of the X in a few categories. And when I think of a Ford equivalent to a 'Burb, I think Expedition. Like most vehicles, the X has its quirks, but I love mine ... and will most likely buy another later on.
Just thought of sumthin' ... The 6.8L X's 100K mile tune-up includes replacing the coils at about $100 or so each ... and there's 10 of 'em! Make yourself a buddy at a local Ford dealer's parts counter.
I have 67K miles on my 2000 X and I have not had any problems with the V10. I had a major service done yesterday and they told me that my ball joints are gone on the left side. I have heard from a number of SD owners, that the front wheel bearings need replacement at about 100K. So you might want to check the front end closely.
