01 Ranger Shifting Problems

Ok so my 01 Ranger 4.0 5speed has bad syncros in the trans. Problem is the shift from second to third, it scratches. i would love to switch to the Hurst Billet Plus shifter but I need to deal with the Tranny first.I would like to upgrade so I don't have this problem later down the road. My old 02 Ranger 3.0 5speed had the same problem. If anybody can give me suggestion on what to do that would be great.

Check with a good INDEPENDANT trans shop, maybe there are aftermaket upgraded parts for this trans.. It's a shame that you cant just put an 87 Toyo 5 speed in this. The one in my 87 Ranger is still going strong with 221K miles on it. I use synthetic lube in it of course. Only minor problem is the 3rd gear synchro has been a little tired out for the last 20K or so, which is no big deal

I had a problem getting my truck into 1st gear and had a mechanic replace the shifter bushings on my 5 speed. Problem solved. 1992 Ranger xlt supercab
