fuel sending units
Can you refer me to parts suppliers of new fuel sending units besides the Ford dealer that I will need for my dual fuel tank replacement?
Are both tanks with sending units that have low pressure pumps in them as well?
I posted a similar question last night but it never showed up on the board and I can't reach the forum moderator to learn why.
Thanks for the help!
The sending unit does have the low pressure pump as part of the assembly so I answered my own posted question there.
The sending unit assembly will not be used on the new tank. The reason is the sending unit's outside the plate fuel lines are rusted through both pickup and return. It's a shame cuz the hardware portion inside the tank looks good and it all checks out electrically.
This leaking forward tank I have not used in years (I had the truck for 16 years now)but now I bet the LEAK was from these sending unit fuel line elbows and not the tank as I assumed.
O well.
I assume there is no safe and secure repair involving cutting back these fuel line elbows and making a fitting to the existing plastic fuel lines which use the "hairpin" clips. Or is there?
Do both forward and aft tanks on my 1985 F150 302/5.0 EFI 2WD automatic use the same fuel sending units?
Also, I'm replacing these original tanks with polyethelene tanks and I see a problem with the old filler neck vent tube being unseated inside the new poly tank opening which has no sleeve to hold the vent tube end steady inside the tank, like the original one has. I'll need to buy a new gas filler hose cuz the old one is cracked from age, but the old filler neck vent tube is fine. Any suggestions on how I can solve this?
Thank you
