prolongred blk heater use
Are there any negative effects of using the block heater all night? I always plug the truck in before I go to bed and leave it until start up in the morning. The owners manual states that it won't hurt anything but just want to makes sure. thanks.

Make sure you have a good heavy duty cord. It makes a difference as we learned from experience...the EXC went up in smoke. Investigators think it was a short in the cord. But when I bought our 2002 the heater cord was wrapped in that plastic electrical covering, something our 2000 didn't have.
Also check the cord from the heater as well to be on the safe side.

Dito on the timer. It's a mess to replace. The three hour rule: The element reaches it's max output after three hours. I have a timer with multiple time slots. Just in case I leave the wife's house at a later time.
I'll have to gat a longer chord and tap into the neighbors outlet.
