You don't say what year truck you have. I think the bad thing about the np205 is the low range. The BG you have has a pretty good low range. Without looking it up I don't know for sure but I want to say it's 2.62:1. The 205 was used on Dodge, GM, and Ford trucks over the years. After a quick web search I found a couple good web sites you might want to check out. http://www.offroaddesign.com/NP205tech.htm

As for swapping in the NV271 I'll have to say maybe. The 4R100 in the super duties are for the most part just updated E4OD's so if you have an E4OD maybe you'd get lucky and it would bolt right on? I really don't have a clue though.
On a side note, I was just reading Dodge will be going to the NV271 and NV273 for 2003. Anyone know what the use in the new Chevy trucks?

It's an '87 F350 Crew with a ZF-5 onto a 460 with 3.55 gears.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

What is the current v10 tranny? I think it's a ZF5 47 or something like that. There is a ZF42 also which is I think what I have. I think probably the ZF47 has the V10 and 5.4 pattern while the 42 had the 460 pattern? But then I'm just guessing, and really don't have a clue either
:-X11 Maybe someone can help us out.Tony
Early years with the 460 and the ZF had the s5-42. This is probably the tranny you have. Later years of the 460 ZF combo had the s5-47. I think the s5-42 and s5-47 would have the same tranny/t-case interface and, thus, any t-case that would bolt to a s5-47 should bolt to an s5-42. I believe also that '99-'01 SDs with the V-10 came with the s5-47. So you probably should be able to bolt the NVG271 right up. I am speculating here though, so please don't hold me liable.

P.S. Jim Feuling's web site was recently updated, but he still doesn't have any more info on his 460 heads.
