Wait to start light stays on?
I have a 2002 Excursion with a 7.3L. Just today I noticed that the wait to start light isn't going out even after an extended drive. This truck is in Phoenix so I wouldn't consider this to be a cold start problem. Does any one have any clues on why this light is staying on and what can I check? Oil temp sensor, bad plug, .. . ?

Are you also seeing that the volt gauge on the dash shows a discharge condition, like the glow plugs are still on? I'd try to get a scanner hooked up to it, and check for trouble codes. If there aren't any, you could always just disconnect the batteries, turn the headlights on to drain any residual power in the system, and reconnect the batteries after 20 minutes. You will have erased any stored codes, so try to get it scanned prior to doing this.

Ok thats a good place to start. Will any of the normal auto parts shops read codes? for how much? Mabye I should just buy a code reader but they seem like they would be expensive?
