what rear end is this?

I have a friend with a 99 ranger with a 3.0 and 4.10 gears, what rear end does he have, its a 4x4 also.

I believe all 4x4 ares 8.8".

Wait,
I thought that only the Rangers with 4.0L engines got the 8.8 rear. I think that the inline 4 and the 3.0L engines only got the 7.5 rear.

AKTraveler, that depends on the year. Until 98 that was true, but in 98 most (all?) 3.0 4x4's got the 8.8 as well.
