I've just started hearing a rattle under my truck while driving down a slightly bumpy road. (Here in Michigan that is a good road) It almost sounds like a skock or something like that. It doesn't sound serious yet so I'm not panicing. It's also to darn cold to go crowling around under there right now. I've also noticed that she seems to get a little squirely (loose) upon takeoff while turning a corner. Anyone else haveing/had this problem that could give me any input on what to look for? Would appricate any advise.
Is the rattle affected by RPM when in park or neutral?
Does it track straight and true while not turning?
Monsta;
Thanks for the reply.
There are 30,000 miles on it.
It sounds more like a rattle than a clunking. It doesn't do it on smooth roads or at a stop. Only on bumpy roads.
It appears to be tracking straight. I haven't followed it to see, but from what I can see that seems to be ok.
I never thought to check the ball joints. I guess I will add that to my list to check.
I hope to check it out in a few days, but like I said earlier, it to darn cold out there right now. Old guys like me can't take the cold like we use to.
Sounds like the same sound I have on my truck. The sway bar has been tightened by the dealer and that didn't help. I'm thinking either ball joints or brake calipers. If I get the dealer to fix it, I'll report back. Having a warranty is nice, but I don't have time to drop the truck off for work!
