Exlporer would not start

I have a 2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer. Last week while removing some items from the vehicle I accidently activated the panic alarm. I shut off the alarm then proceeded to start the vehicle. I could not get the engine to turn over. Everything else worked, lights, door open signal etc. I could not start the engine for about 20 minutes. No problems starting since, but am a bit concerned. I am assuming it was because of the alarm? but I do not really know. I did contact the dealer and they seemed to think that the vehicle would not start as "it" thought it was being stolen? I plan to take it in and have them service it for any problems. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Thanks for any response.

i'm not too familiar with your vehicle but when most for alarms go off you dissarm/reset them by locking& unlocking the drivers door with the key this works on dodges too. on a chevy with passkey if the resistor is bad the computer will lockup for 10 minutes i'd say yours did something similar. if the vehicle thought it was stolen there will be a code in the computer this happens all the time when remote starters screw up.
