I have a 98 Mountaineer that is flashing an airbag error code 36, then the airbag light stays on. When this first started, it also was making a grinding noise when I would use my blinker. The blinker noise stopped for a while but now is sporatic. Does anyone know what a 36 means? Or where I can look to find out? Thanks!
The wire harness under the driver's seat is loose?? mess with tem for a bit and re-start the EXP. To find out which wire is loose use a tester, or save tiem and wiggle them a bit until it works right? OR give Ford an hour of $ and get it fixed? Good luck
Wow. Airbag code = not good. With all the crazy drivers and ******** out there today, it proably should be checked. Also, if you bought the car used somewhere, or it was rebuilt after an accident , make sure there isnt a bag of sand in the airbag compartment....
Truely, the Air bag icon flashing 3 times then 6 times and repeated 5 times means that the electrical connection or harness under the drivers seat has malfunctioned. I tmay mean that the airbag itself is no good? But, the first course of action is to eliminate the loose wire problem that will cost you an hour +$+ at the dealer. If you got the money, go for the Ford Dealer route first. If it still won't quit flashing after asuring yourself there is no loose wire, definately take it to the dealer. Mostly, someone in tha back sticks their big feet under the seat and loosens the wires. Note: a code 37 is the passenger side> Just trying to save you a dollar times 60.
All you have to do is replace the blue air bag module which is located in the passenger side kick panel. But make sure you mount it before testing it because an error code will flash if it is not mounted correctly. Its totally safe. I took one out of a 95 and put it in a 96 and its in perfect working condition.
