I'm looking to have a bed liner sprayed in my new F350. The trouble is that I need some help on selecting which one. We have dealers for Rhino, Linex and SPI in Colorado Springs. Assuming that the dealers are all capable of doing the work correctly which will hold up to hauling dirt, rock lumber and whatever else???
I used Line-x in mine because that was the most readily available. It has held up very well, seems almost impossible to gouge. Very satisfied with it. Don't know about the others.
My truck has a Line-X liner, but prices vary a bit as does level of service/quality even within brands. For example, my Line-X dealer sprays on the liner on the tailgate and covers up to the roll joint of the outside panel so sides and bottom of tailgate are completely protected wheras many dealers spray on liner only on the surface of the tailgate. This results in a leading edge which in theory could cause the tailgate liner to peel off. My dealer also sprayed liner on the end of my bed all the way down to the bottom of the back edge for the same reason to avoid a leading edge problem. Cost? $395. Lifetime warrantee. In short shop around and ask questions.
I've got prices of $400 for each of the liners so that is not a deciding factor. My biggest concern is how well the liner holds up to shovels and other things sliding over it. I know that the rhino lining is pretty soft but I've not heard anything bad about it. The linex seems to be O.K. as well. I've not heard much about the SPI though. Also, not sure about the dealer for the SPI stuff. I've spent enough time working in a body shop to realize that the best product put down on an unprepared surface will fail.
Thanks for the help and if you have more input I'm all ears.
I'm having a Line-x installed next weekend in mine. I did a couple of polls of the users of this forum and line-x seemed to be the preferred liner. Our local body shop guy (best in the area) told me that line-x was the way to go and recommended a specific dealer. Price is $375 including tax. I'll let you know what I think after is installed.
I just had my rig done today with "Custom Lining". They supposedly use the exact same 50 gallon drums of stuff that Line-X uses. I paid $360 for mine. In researching beforehand, the local Line-X installer stated he used around 4 gallons per short bed....and doing all those little areas as described in a previous post are extra$$. Mine has all those done, plus over the top of the front edge of the bed. This was for $40 less than the quote I had for a BASIC LineX job. AND, they used 5 gallons of "goop".
I suspect the applications of each material vary from dealer to dealer...make sure they hand "scuff" the bed paint first, as it helps with adhesion of whatever brand liner material they use. Also, make sure they remove all bolts and hardware before the material application. I believe that's pretty standard now, but I've seen some where the hardware is covered...gotta destroy the liner to remove a bolt or tie-down bracket.
I chose Line-X because I often have to shovel dirt and rubbish from the bed. Rhino is softer and seems to catch the shovel points a bit. Rhino is twice as thick but seems a bit soft, although it seems to hold items a bit firmer on my buddy's Rhino bed than my Line-X bed. Rhino seems to be a bit better for moving stuff, like furniture. They both come with lifetime guarantees where I live, so the choice is yours.
I like Line-X
Their spray job was a bit nicer also.
Good luck. I think you'll like any one you choose.

I had a Line-X liner sprayed into my F250 Crew Cab and it turned out great.
Although it shows up really dark in my gallery photo, the standard Line-X grey color is a really close match to the Ford plastic grey bed rail cap covers. The Line-X surface is a little harder than the Rhino Lining surface, but it is still really slip resistant. My 4 wheeler now has something to grip on so it doesn't slide into the front of my bed during loading.
Great job and service. The guy removed all of my tie-downs and scuffed the bed thoroughly prior to spraying. He even removed the panel in my tailgate before spraying to ensure I could get into it if I every needed to.
$395 out the door at Line-X of Alaska, 230 E. Potter in Anchorage...
