Hi, I have a longbox 1998 F150 4.6L 4X4. My tail lights don't work and I keep getting pulled over at night. The brake lights and turn signals all work. I took it to a Ford dealership and they said something was wrong with my GEM module and that I needed a whole new fuse box.. They wanted to charge me $460.00 and I thought that is rediculous for tail lights. So, is there a way put a power wire to the tailight and use a different switch just for the tail lights with out messing up my blinkers or breaks ? Also, sometimes I hit a bump and my radio turns off and it'll come back on if I push on the fuse box. My interior lights used to do that too but not anymore.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I cannot afford $460.oo for lights and a radio. Thanks.
I wonder if your fuse box and GEM have water in them from a leaking windshield? That can cause the problems you've got. You might try drying out the fuse box/GEM and see if that helps at all.
Are all your fuses ok?
all my fuses are ok. I think I am goping to pull the box and check the back of it. Someone told me I should be looking for burn marks or something. how would I know if the fusebox needs replacing or if it could be repaired?
Thanks
Most of the fuses boxes that I've seen that were bad had water in them. You could remove a fuse and blow compressed air into where the fuse was and watch water come out other places.
