Fair enough alfie623,

I didn't come here to start a war, just express an opinion.

Crap happens to everyone, I tend to roll with it, try to see it from both sides, and not get too worked up about it, that's my reality.

Anyhoo, no hard feelings.

I think waxy has a point, maybe just not one you want to hear.

If they had got the truck back to you in 28 days, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. You'd have a repaired truck and no real course of action. Ford has only the lemon law as a time limit, and the warranty specifically states they are not responsible for other losses or damage incurred as a result of a failure, ie tough luck. As it turned out, all things being equal, you did alright in a BAD situation. It could be A LOT worse.

If you don't like it and feel you're being screwed, or you got screwed, you can always go across the street to the chebbie/dudge dealer and try your luck there. Otherwise, you're gonna have to play by Ford's rules, whether you like them or not.

alfie, I know what you are going through. I just found out my 03 250 has different gears front to back, and I am pretty ticked off about it. I just started the process of dealing with the dealership and Ford rep. The service manager does not believe the gears really are different, so I have to drive another hour so he can look at the codes himself. I originially took it to a closer dealership and they diagnosed it. The mods might be asking too much, but how much bad mouthing do they really want. I would think they would work with you within reason. Good luck

Sorry, but I'm with Alfie. When you are shelling out $30,000 - $40,000 for a NEW truck, not used, it damn well better be perfect. They should transfer the parts for his trouble.
There are reasons people started buying foreign crap back in the eighties and this kind of thing was one of the reasons. Ford should work on the customer service. I haven't had a problem except for out in Detroit when I was on vacation. I brought the truck in for stress cracks in the heated mirror. They claimed there was an impact point and wouldn't take care of it. I was on vaca so I didn't have time to screw around with them and they probably knew it.... I got the truck back home to Mass where I bought it and they took care of it without any hesitation. Probably because I bought it there, but it shouldn't matter. I bought it from FORD. I thought all dealers were suppose to represent the company.

thanks, glad to see someone's on my side. When I bought the truck if I came in with 97% of the money they would laugh at me. Now, I've gotten 97% of the truck and there still laughing at me. Go figure....

I think they should have given him a new truck I would want one to.. I think they should transfer his after market stuff to the new truck. At their cost. The fact that his after market stuff can be moved then it should be moved to the new truck. If he had other stuff done that could not be like custom paint or something like that. I would expect them to pay for that. I would not expect them to pay for stuff that could be put on the new truck. But they should put it on there for him.. It's not his fault the other truck was a dud.. I tell you I had my truck in at the Dealer once. Well a hail storm came in when it was there. they said they would not fix it because they were not responsible for an act of god.. Do you think that is right.. Maybe but I tell you what If the truck had been with me it would have been in the garage at the time... act of god or not. they should take responsibility when its in their hands.. Do you think if they let you test drive a car and it was hailed on in your drive way they would
let you say it's not your problem because it was an act of god? In the end they fixed my truck.

Ok, here's the latest update. I went to the dealer last night and ordered my new truck. What happens is they order me a new truck how ever I want to equip it and then when it gets here they swap it out with my truck and compare MSRP to MSRP. I have to pay for additional equipment. The only down side is I'll be paying list price for the added equipment but I'm not too concerned with the $100 or $200 extra. When the truck comes in the dealership will swap out the equipment for me. Well after seeing how they screwed up the truck when they put it back together I'm going to just do it myself. As for the leaf springs I'll have them swap them on the old truck and I'll put them onto the new truck. With all of the hard feelings between me and the dealer I'd rather be turning the wrenches myself on the suspension parts. So it will take some more work on my part but I am getting a new truck. As for buying a truck from this dealership again I would not and would prefer to go somewhere where they have better service.
