Rear main seal

I have a 93 with a 5.8l and my rear main seal appears to be leaking oil. How can i stop this?

It leaks right there at the tranny/engine connection.

Well it is a big PITA! YOu need to remove the tranny and then remove the starter plate. Then the rear main is right there. Pop it out and pop in the new one. Not fun to do.

are you 100% sure that it is the rear main? most of the time it is the oil pan gasket and it really fools you into thinking that it is the rear main seal. i would take off the inspectin cover on the lower front of the bellhousing and see if it is only slightyly wet. then i would get some cleaner and clean all the old oil residue up and really inspect thoroly to make 100% sure that it is the rear main.
it stinks to do a job and find that you have not cleared the problem. i thought my rear main was leaking and it was the oilpan.

Thanks I'll look at the oil pan gasket.
