Fixed the rough idle!
The truck has the original 352, (it's been rebuilt at least once), with a early 70's C6, Edelbrock intake and 1405 4 bbl.
The idle was always rough, would surge, shudder and shake sometimes and then run smooth as can be at others. Really frustrating.
I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, added Petrox ignition, adjusted the idle mixture and all this helped, but it still wasn't right. Next I went on a mission and started looking for vacume leaks. Replaced lines in the enjine bay and followed line down to the rear of the C6 where the modulator valve lived. After 2 tries at finding the correct one, I replace that this evening.
That was it! Idles so smooth and when in gear too. Before I had kinda feather the gas when in gear to maintain a smooth idle, not any more. I just couldn't believe a $8 modulator valve had such an effect on drivability.
I know it's no big deal, but it made my day big time and if it can help another back yard mechanic, great!
Thanks,
