Cold start, no idle help
I have a '96 4x4, 5.0 which occasionaly gives me trouble idling. It only happens with cold starts. I don't mean weather temperature, but just first thing in the morning or when I get out of work. When I start it, it won't idle. I have to work the gas and break when I come to a stop to prevent stalling. Once it warms up, it keeps running but idles very low. Sometimes when I'm stoped and have my foot on the brake and gas, I can feel and hear something kick in and the engine runs fine. Is there some kind of cold start idle control I should check? Does EFI have something equivilant to a choke? It does not happen all the time, but it is a pain in the neck when it does. Especially now, when it's freezing out there and I have to sit there to warm it up. Thanks
