i have a '52 f1 in need of a chasis the guy i got it from had chopped off the front didn't measure and cut about a foot behind the front cab mounts i wouldn't have bought it but got it for $300.00 and the bed is perfect so are the doors and cab i've looked into a ranger chasis but setting it up looks like it would be a pain maybe somebody has run into somyhing like this before.
Depending on what your overall plans are for the truck - it shouldn't be too hard to find another truck with a good frame that the body is rusted/beat up.
i am going to put a small block 302 with a four speed in it i've looked into it but most people around here want more for a rusted junker than i gave for my dads '69 between $900.00 to $1800.00 thats way more than i have or want to spend for a truck i'm just gonna sacrifice for parts. but thanks for the in put i'll probobly just put her on the back burner till i get the '47 and '69 painted.
Where are you located??? I've got a bare frame that I could probably let go. Unfortunately, there is no suspension on it - front or rear....... email me direct if you have any interest. I'm in eastern Iowa.
Also, (in case you aren't aware....) any F1 frame from '48-'52 will be the same..................
I have a 52 F1, I'd like to drop the body (nose, cab, bed) on a frame that's already set up with a V8, auto trans and pwr steering, (factory) instead of swap this and that. Wheelbase for a 52 F1 is approx 113 inches...any ideas???
it depends on what you intend to repower with FORD or chevy if your gonna use gm an s10 will work. i've looked rangers and they are about the right width and if your going ford a v8 as with the s10 wil bolt right in if it's a 4.0 ford \ 4.3 chevy chasis. but full size truck chasis require alot of fab to make fit under an old ford, but a 4.0 ranger or a 4.3 s10 all you need is a v8 and a braket kit and radiator and remengineer the cab bed and fab front end mounts unfortunatly nieter make put a v8 in factory. although if you have the money just about any good speed shop can do the settup for and might even have a turn key ready but your looking at thousands rather junk yard hundreds. hope i helped i've been counting beens so i can do mine if your poor like me it takes time and patients not to over spend cause you want everything on it.
Toured the bone yards, read all the threads. Frames, clips, ifs, all too pricey and a lot of modifications. My wife, a rodder herself, (women rodders...gotta love 'em), pointed out that the frame on my 52 F1 is already set up for a 351/auto trans, and the front axle is a 2" drop with beefed up springs. and looks like it was installed recently, all I needed was power steering. How much work and money is involved in hooking up a Toyota 4X4 power steering box?
