Black Buck

Has anybody ever seen a black buck before? My boss just emailed me 2 pics of this lady and a black buck. if somebody tells me how to post the pics without them showing up on all my post, I'll put them up.

Its a genetic anomaly.

Technically all deer have the gene for black hair, but its overridden by the one for brown hair. Since all deer have virtually the same genetic code, this one just got screwed up along the lines, it probably had nromal parents.

I've seen just about all the common genetic screwups in animals. gotta love wildlife biology.

Albino deer and moose are some special signs for native americans along with the buffalo.

I've seen a few albinos and a "Calico" (SP?) here in Jersey, but a black buck is something I've never seen in my life (until now).
That is really cool!

My uncle shot a huge antlered doe up in Maine years ago. Pretty weird.

I think "calico" is called a piebald deer, brown with white patches.

Somewhere in one of our hunting magazines, I remember seeing pictures of black deer. If it didn't go to the recycler, I'll see if I can find it.
