O.K so here is my dilema. I have an 86' bronco II 2.9EFI and I am having a problem with it missing. Quite often when I first start it, it will only run on five cylinders, you can here every miss and the blow by. the thing is once I get it up to about 2500 rpm it goes away, also if I'm driving along at any speed, when I go to accelarate it hesitates for a couple seconds, almost stalling and then starts running on all six again, please tell me some one has some idea's I'm guesing spark problems(bad Sparkplug wire?) but maybe fuel delivery, any advise would help greatly.
take it to a dark place and look under the hood while it's missing you should see blue sparks from the bad wire(s). on something this old i'd just go ahead and replace the cap, rotor, plugs and wires. if you change the wires one at a time theres less chance of mixing them up. let me know if this fixes the problem
Yeah I have to agree with 77red250 sounds like a spark going some where other than the plug. I accidently dropped one of my plugs while doing a tune up and apperantly it made a hair line crack in the plug that made the truck run terrible, after checking every thing else I finally just turned the lights off and low and behold, there was my missing spark. The spark was jumping to the head from the crack, that I couldn't see. I just swapped the plug for a new one and the symptoms you described went away. This can happen any where from the distibbutor th the plug, so good luck and I hope you find it to be a simple fix.
