6.0 is the way to go. I worked for a guy with two v-10 dumps. They were fine empty but with a load or heavy trailer they were gutless. Diesel is the only way to go when you need the big torke.

The best for real heavy loads I would think a little higher ratio would be good if you are not going to pull 12k and over...My 2cents

they offer a 538 but that seems like alot of gear?

Get the 6.0!!!.......

Only not in any SuperDuty....I'd get an International 4200 Low Pro(19.5" rims) it's got an even torquier VT365 in it and has NO problems.

It's a bit more truck than a 550 is no matter how you slice it- rather than buying a pickup become light medium duty, your buying a medium duty become semi light medium duty.

And it'll cost you less as well, mid high forties with bed, compared to over 50K with bed.
