Angry Temporary seatbelt chime disable.....gone....darn!

This would be a good question for someone in the former Ford restraints group. Why did you get rid of that great temporary seatbelt chime disable for the 2004 model Duty?????? That was one of my favorite features on the truck! All you out there with earlier models are lucky, you can still disable that damn chime just by pushing down on your seatbelt button.
Now I'm not justifing NOT wearing a seatbelt, here in Michigan it's the law, it's just that that feature was too convienient. It mostly came in to play when my friends and I are riding around on the back roads up north. We're usually shining deer or just crusing around at no more than 20 mph on the dirt roads. The feature came in the most handy after coming in from hunting while wearing three layers of clothes, sitting three wide in the cab. There just isn't much room to put on a seatbelt for a quarter mile ride! Does anyone know how to get this back??
I know you can disable the chime by going through all the motions in the owners manual, oh, and by the way, they could have made THAT allot easier!!! It's just that I don't want to completely disable the feature, the chime is just irritating enough to get me to wear my seatbelt and I should! It's just at times I don't need it.
Does anyone else feel the same way about this feature???
Alan (wearin' my seatbelt to shut-up the chime in MI)

Beltminder 04 F550?

I think the temporary disable is gone from what I can read. I have a similar problem though... we just got an 04 F550 dualie diesel, auto trans, xlt; and the beltminder feature listed for the 03 does not work on this one. I tried it a few times. We too are not advocating the lack of seat belt use, but as landscapers, we are in and out of that truck 50 times in the same two blocks. Anyone else find that the beltminder process does not work on a F550?

The turn off was something like; key on 3 minutes, latch and unlatch belts 3 times, lights on and off, three more latch cycles, then one more in 7 seconds. It just does not work...

Actually the process to turn off the belt minder in my truck does work, I followed the procedure in the manual and the minder never came on. It's just that in my 01' Superduty all I had to do to "temporarily" turn off the belt minder was press down on the seatbelt release button (red one) and it would cancel the belt minder until the key was turned off, then I'd have to do it again. I learned this at work when I had one of these trucks on the dyno's I run. The belt chime can be VERY irritating if you have to listen to it all shift.
I'm just disappointed Ford discontinued the feature, it did come in handy in special situations, yours especially.

I agree - my 2004 drives me crazy. While I wear it ALL the time on the highway or any driving but when I am moving a trailer or my boat around in the yard I DO NOT need reminded...

Then - even when it is in park it still does it...

In Florida, where I live, the F250 is registered as and considered a commercial vehicle. Fl law does NOT require the use of seat belts in commercial vehicles or anything over 6000 pounds...

I always wear my seatbelt, but the beltminder just drives me nuts whenever I do hear it. I read the manual, and didnt bother to try all that. I just unplugged it under my seat and was done. As far as I know this makes it think the belt is always buckled in. It will never make a chime so just make sure u always buckle up.

Oh yeah, mines a 2002

The beltminder software fix has worked on every truck I have had except the 04 F550. It is a real nuisance. So far I just wrapped the seatbelt around behind the seat and clicked it into the latch. Since the truck is an XLT and extend cab, the seat belt is part of the seat. I thought of using the center lap belt, but they made the latch different so they won't fit. SOMEONE help turn this darn bell off !!!

Could you post the instructions for us too mentally challenged to read the instruction manual - because there are not enough pictures...

I think they are in the tech or FAQ section if you search on beltminder

Just reach under the seat, find the wire going to the seatbelt, and unplug it at the connector!

Ahhh, silence!

It may be illegal to not wear your seltbelt, but I know of no law saying I have to listen to reminders.
