Driveshaft vibration???

My buddy got a 4" Superlift installed on his 2002 350 shortwheelbase crewcab and has had 2 shops try different configurations installing shims on the dropdown kit. There is a slight vibration from the line and the shop insists that most lifted trucks have some vibration. Is this right? It is a new truck so i am sure the driveshafts are balanced. Is this vibration harming the rubber on the carrier?
Anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks,
August

Driveshaft vibration???

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Mar-02 AT 09:49 AM (EST)]Many poeple are having to try MANY different thicknesses of shims to find the RIGHT one for the carrier but are able to get rid of the vibration. I've seen thicknesses go from 1/4-1". If the slip yokes were removed from the driveshafts for any reason they may not have been put back in phase with the rest of the shaft.

Driveshaft vibration???

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Mar-02 AT 12:32 PM (EST)]I would be sure that they put the drive shafts back in the correct position that they were from factory.
Did they index them or mark them?
as stated before.
Don't be fooled by a tire vibration also!

Good luck
Rich

Driveshaft vibration???

Thanks for the advice/suggestions - guess taking it to ford and having them go over the driveshaft item placement and fit is the way to go
Don't know if my friend trusts that shop anymore

No matter where he takes it, he'll have to pay to have it fixed. So, I'd recommend finding a GOOD driveline specialty shop. The Ford service center will probably only know how to put stuff into alignment based on factory specs. His best (cheapest) bet is to have the shop that installed the lift to continue working on it until it is right.
