I have a 1970 sort custom,
My question is on the driverside of cab, by the e-brake cable there was what looked like a light socket hanging down, purple and red wires. The purple ran straight down into a 4 wire connecter, and the red ran across to the dash panel then down to a plug near the wiper motor, never got far enough to follow further as it got dark. These wires burned up today, I think that the light socket grounded out on the ebrake assembly, not sure, but truck ran afterwards. Anybody know what these 2 wires are for?
What I ended up doing was following them to the connectors, then cut out what was bad, and made sure there were no others melted, or any exposed wires. I plan on using the connectors and wire from the parts truck and splicing them back in. The wire was melted all the way to the connector, couldn't salvage any. They ran from the socket to a connector near the fuse box, then accross to the instrument panel, then onto a connector to wards the wiper motor, total wires fried were three, one blue, one red, and one purple. Definitely un-nerving, makes me think whats next to go?!
